Plate spinning and juggling were on the timetable this week when 75 Year 10 students came to Wellington College for a Skills Day.

The event on March 27, which was open to schools in the Wellington College Student Alliance, comprised four one-hour workshops including Memory Matters – using the power of creativity and imagination to make learning easier and avoid the ‘slide of doom’ when revising; and Pathfinder – Understanding and Condensing Text and Association Maps.

Students also learned about how to overcome negative beliefs they might have learned very young and which stopped them from trying out new things.

Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One said: “I have learned to revise effectively using various different methods.”

Another said: “I’m going to try seeing things differently and do the opposite of normal, like putting my left shoe on first.”
