The nature of memory, migration, and how trade can benefit or hinder the economic development of different countries were all on the agenda at a Humanities Day this week.

The event, run by the Wellington College Student Alliance, featured lessons in history, geography, psychology, philosophy, and English.

Open to Year 9 students from the 26 schools in the alliance, it was designed to go beyond their usual curriculum and introduce them to subjects they haven’t studied before.

Afterwards a teacher said: “I really enjoyed how the students got to deepen their understanding and be challenged academically.”

The 16 schools involved included Edgbarrow, St Crispin’s and The Forest, with around 160 students attending along with their teachers.

The popular event, which takes place every year, followed a STEM Day held the previous day.
