A new collaboration this term sees Wellington College Learning Alliance supporting a neighbouring school in need of specialist music provision due to staffing challenges.

Music teacher Nick Burrage is running a two-hour workshop each Wednesday at Edgbarrow School in nearby Crowthorne, leading Year 10 students in their  BTEC Music Skills Development component.

Paul Jennings, Head of Educational Developments and Partnerships at Wellington College, said: “This is not something we have done before but we are very happy to have been able to help our neighbour Edgbarrow in a time of need.

“The Learning Alliance exists to help teachers and students and this is a perfect example of how we can do both.”

Edgbarrow assistant headteacher Andrea Petri said: “Working with the Wellington College Learning Alliance is a privilege.

“It enables us to share ideas, practice and lean on each other for support when needed.”

Mr Burrage, who is in charge of popular music at the college, including the Welly Unplugged and Welly Rocks series, said: “It is a pleasure to teach at Edgbarrow.

“The students have been so welcoming. They are wonderfully engaged, work very hard and they have been creating some brilliant musical ideas. They really are a credit to their school.”
