Parent engagement and student behaviour were on the agenda at a ‘Heads and Reps’ breakfast held at Wellington College this week.

The event, organised by the Wellington College Teaching Alliance, saw 14 headteachers and 20 other staff from the alliance’s partner schools meet over coffee and pastries to catch up with each other and hear about the latest work of the alliance.

Paul Jennings, Head of Educational Developments and Partnerships at Wellington College, outlined plans for the alliance for next year and opened up a debate about the day-to-day challenges faced by its partnership schools.

These included talking about whether parents need to engage in a more positive way with schools, and the techniques teachers are using to improve student behaviour.

Mr Jennings said afterwards: “This is the second of these events, following on from a very successful breakfast meeting last year.

“It is a great chance to see some old friends and meet some new faces in our partnership and talk about the plans we have in the pipeline.

“The round table discussions were also useful and we have taken away some really useful information that will help us shape the Teaching Alliance’s programme for next year.”
