Wheeler students learned how to make a search and rescue vehicle at a Lego engineering session.

The Year 10 students took part in a workshop given by iBricks, which focused on the different types of rescue vehicles and then challenged them to make their own. They used the vehicle to rescue a stranded Lego person before setting them against each other in a damaging robot war.

They also enjoyed a chemistry practical, a lesson on sustainable development goals and a careers session.

The Wheeler Programme is a fully-funded programme for state school students within the Wellington College Learning Alliance.

Twenty-four students are selected in Year 9 and the college helps support them until their graduation from the programme at the end of Year 13.

The programme includes a mixture of group activities, visits to workplaces, universities, organisations and people; talks, lectures, workshops and discussions; individual coaching, and tailored mentoring.
