Schools in the Wellington College Student Alliance highly value their involvement with the partnership and view the programme as offering strong value for money, according to a survey.
Teachers who answered the online survey highlighted the breadth of provision, including outdoor education, enterprise initiatives, and university access activities, which support students with a wide range of abilities and needs.
They also praised the Wheeler Programme, pictured above, which takes 24 students each year on to a five-year programme of mentoring that includes two residential stays at Wellington College.
The overwhelming majority of schools said the annual membership fee is more than recouped through participation in WCSA events, while a small number of schools said they recoup a bit more than the £250 fee and a few reported that the fee approximately breaks even.
The survey also asked what more the WCSA could do to help students in its partner schools, with one teacher suggesting A Level students could attend outside speaker talks or lectures which enhance their curriculum and another suggested future-focused themes such as AI and employability skills.
Lucy Allen, manager of the WCSA, said: “We are pleased that all the schools who carried out our survey seem to value the partnership so much and are eager to bring their students to our programme of events.
“We are always keen to hear feedback and will look at the suggestions put forward and see if we can incorporate them into our programme.”
Responses were collected in the Spring of 2026.
