Physics lab technicians from 11 schools in the Wellington College Teaching Alliance will come to the college next week for workshops.

Nineteen staff will practice experiments related to quantum physics, waves, electric fields, capacitors, magnetic fields, internal resistance and sensing circuits to support them in their work delivering practicals to A level students in their schools.

The workshops, on Monday June 15 and Tuesday June 16, will be led by Wellington College lab tech Wendy Vooght.

The events follow a successful event last June, pictured above. Aimed at technicians setting up GCSE practicals, it saw 13 technicians from nine state schools spend a day picking up tips on how to run practical sessions on topics including convection, electricity, and radioactivity.

WCTA aims to facilitate collaboration between teachers and between schools and ensure they have training and development opportunities to enhance their students’ education.

This academic year, it has delivered courses including a two-day course on mental health first aid, a behaviour management workshop,  training from exam board AQA in science, English and RS, and a number of Subject Specific Support Groups.
