Headteachers and staff from schools around the area came to an inaugural networking breakfast at Wellington College this week.

The event, organised by the Wellington College Teaching Alliance, saw 17 headteachers and 13 other staff attend the college to catch up with each other and hear about the latest work of the alliance.

The Teaching Alliance exists to support teachers in its 27 schools so they can give their students the best possible education. It offers support in the form of subject specific groups and teacher meet-ups as well as courses for their Continued Professional Learning and Development.

Paul Jennings, Head of Educational Developments and Partnerships at Wellington College, outlined some of the events the alliance will put on next year and asked schools about their specific needs, including the sorts of courses they want to take, the meetings they’d like to have, and the best way to facilitate them.

He said: “It was a great chance to see some old friends and meet some new faces in the alliance. Teachers are so busy it is hard to find time to meet up, so a breakfast with an early start and some coffee and pastries seemed like a good idea.

“We have taken away some really useful information that will help us shape the Teaching Alliance’s programme for next year and there are lots of exciting collaborative opportunities ahead.”

It is hoped the event will be held at least twice a year in the future.
