A Level students on the Wheeler Programme got some specialist help in their chosen subjects on a study day.

Biology, physics, chemistry and history were among the subjects taught on the day at Wellington College.

The Year 13 group are in their last year of the programme.

The maths students enjoyed working in a maths room made up of whiteboards.

Mya said: “It is a completely different style of learning because the walls are whiteboards so we were writing on the walls.

“We were working in pairs and we could solve problems together.”

She also had a one-to-one session with Dr Emma Ramsey, deputy head of HE and careers.

Mya said: “It was really useful. We talked about my personal statement and she gave me some advice and some things to look at.”

Fellow student Niamh said the small class sizes gave her the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

She added: “We looked at the properties of water, like cohesion and adhesion, before doing a practical to see it in action.

“I knew what was taught but it is a different way of teaching here.”
