Open to Year 10 students in the Wellington College Student Alliance, the day also featured Yvonne Scott explaining the mind-reading power of numbers,  Matthew Robinson from the Operational Research Society talking about the art of decision-making, and Jeff Trim, who talked about how author Lewis Carroll, creator of Alice and the Mad Hatter, was a mathematician and coder.

The day ended with a closely-fought quiz where students built a picture of a dragon by getting maths questions right, with students from Bohunt School in Wokingham (below with teacher Kenny Chan) taking both first and second prizes.

The event was run by the Wellington College Student Alliance and the Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP) and partner schools involved included The Holt and Robert May’s.

It follows two successful Taking Maths Further Days of the year held in the last academic year.
