Can a teapot orbit the moon? And is there a link between cheddar cheese consumption in the US and solar power use in Haiti?
These were just some of the questions put to students on a Humanities Day today.
The event, run by the Wellington College Student Alliance, featured lessons in psychology, philosophy, English, history, geography and economics.
The 13 schools involved included Edgbarrow, Collingwood, Bohunt and The Forest, with around 130 year 9 students attending, along with their teachers.
After the event, one student said: “The psychology session was my favourite, I loved learning about it and making neurons out of pipe cleaners.”
Another added: “My favourite was the philosophy as I enjoyed thinking about reasoning, and writing on the whiteboard walls.”
The event will be followed by a STEM Day, also for Year 9s, and a Skills Day for year 10s.
